“Happiness is Round.” Australian birds sing and speak in this joyous children’s opera, celebrating the land, its unique plants and animals, and the connections that bring them together.
Written and illustrated by Edith Jean Walker over ten years, Sarah Banksia imagines the greening of Australia across millions of years and acknowledges the ancient cultural heritage of its First Peoples. Designed for children to perform on stage dressed as Australian birds, it brings nature to life through story and black-and-white illustrations.
Edith, a pioneer of the Australian bush garden movement, never saw this book published. This edition shares her work with a new generation.
