How could two women restore hectares of Australian bush with a penknife, trowel and secateurs? Joan and Eileen Bradley showed what patience and careful observation could achieve.
Through cartoons and personal recollections, Ian Trafford Walker celebrates the Bradley sisters, their pioneering bush regeneration method and his family’s friendship with them. Drawn to bring Joan a smile during her struggle for recognition, his cartoons pair humour with a love of the Australian bush.
A tribute to Joan and Eileen, and to Ian’s mother Edith Jean Walker and her sister Betty Maloney, pioneers of the Australian bush garden movement.
